Diary, 30 March-22 April 1865, of Sergeant J. E. Whitehorne of the 12th Virginia Regiment, Army of Northern Virginia, describing in detail the retreat from Chesterfield County to Appomattox, the surrender, and Whitehorne's trip home to Greensville County, Va. Whitehorne's feelings and personal reactions are reflected in his account. This transcription was prepared and edited by W. H. T. Squires of Norfolk, Va., in 1939.
